  • Marine — deep-sea fishing vessels, upgraded traditional crafts
  • Livelihood support — annual support during fishing ban periods and insurance for fishers

How to apply

  1. Prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for your chosen component (state fisheries offices share templates)
  2. Apply through your district fisheries office or your state’s PMMSY online portal
  3. The district/state committee scrutinises and approves projects against annual targets
  4. On approval, execute the project — subsidy is released in stages against verified progress
  5. Bank loans can cover the non-subsidy portion; KCC covers working capital

Frequently asked questions

Can a beginner with no fisheries background apply?

Yes — new entrepreneurs are eligible for most components, though training (often arranged by the fisheries department) and a sound DPR improve approval chances.

Is the subsidy paid upfront?

No — you invest first (with or without a bank loan) and the subsidy is released against verified project milestones.

What is the maximum project size?

Each component has a unit-cost ceiling in the PMMSY guidelines — for example, specific caps for ponds per hectare, biofloc units or vehicles. The subsidy percentage applies to the approved unit cost.
