How the ₹6,000 is paid

The yearly benefit is split across three four-month periods: April–July, August–November and December–March. One installment of ₹2,000 is released in each period. The money goes only to bank accounts that are linked with Aadhaar and verified through e-KYC, so keeping these two things updated is the single most important step for uninterrupted payments.

Who is eligible

  • Farmer families (husband, wife and minor children) who own cultivable land recorded in their name in state land records
  • The applicant must be an Indian citizen with a valid Aadhaar number
  • A bank account linked to Aadhaar is required for DBT payment

Who is excluded

  • Institutional landholders
  • Families where any member pays income tax
  • Serving or retired government employees and officers of central/state government or PSUs (Class IV/Group D staff are allowed)
  • Pensioners drawing a monthly pension of ₹10,000 or more (except Class IV/Group D)
  • Registered professionals such as doctors, engineers, lawyers, chartered accountants and architects who are in practice

Installments are released once in each four-month cycle (April–July, August–November, December–March). Exact dates are announced by the government shortly before release — see our next installment page for the latest update.

Yes. Without completed e-KYC your installment is held back even if you are otherwise eligible. OTP-based e-KYC is free on the portal; biometric e-KYC is available at CSC centres for a small fee.

Can tenant farmers get PM Kisan?

No. The benefit is linked to cultivable land recorded in the applicant’s name, so tenant farmers without land in their own name are not covered.
