The Atal Pension Yojana contribution depends on your entry age and chosen pension. The earlier you join, the lower your monthly contribution.
How the APY chart works
- The pension is fixed at ₹1,000, ₹2,000, ₹3,000, ₹4,000 or ₹5,000 per month after age 60.
- Your monthly contribution depends on your age at joining and the chosen pension.
- Joining at 18 needs the lowest contribution; joining at 40 needs the highest.
- On the subscriber’s death, the spouse continues the pension; the corpus is returned to nominees.
For example, to get a ₹5,000 monthly pension, an 18-year-old contributes a much smaller monthly amount than someone joining at 40 — so joining early is cheaper.
