Atal Pension Yojana Chart 2026 — Contribution by Age for All Slabs

Your Atal Pension Yojana contribution depends on just two things: the age you join and the pension slab you choose. The younger you start, the dramatically cheaper it gets. Below is the complete monthly contribution chart for all five slabs, plus the corpus your nominee receives.

How to read the chart — examples

  • Join at 18, want ₹5,000/month: pay ₹210/month for 42 years — total outgo about ₹1.06 lakh for a lifelong ₹60,000/year pension plus ₹8.5 lakh to your nominee
  • Join at 40, want ₹5,000/month: pay ₹1,454/month for 20 years — the same benefit costs about 3.3× more in total, which is why starting early matters
  • Tight budget? Start with ₹1,000 slab now and upgrade later (slab change allowed once a year)

Auto-debit starts from your savings account after enrolment.

Frequently asked questions

Are these amounts fixed forever?

The chart is set by PFRDA and has been stable, but contribution tables can be revised for new joiners. Your own contribution locks at joining (changing only if you switch slabs).

What if my age is between the rows?

Charts exist for every age 18–40 — your bank shows the exact figure for your completed age at enrolment.

Is the pension really guaranteed?

Yes — the minimum pension is guaranteed by the Government of India. If actual returns exceed requirements, subscribers may even get higher benefits.
